Thornton Trail Winds Recreation Center

Located within the Trail Winds Park and Open Space, this facility is a new gateway to the park and includes programming for all ages.

The Trail Winds Recreation Center features include a lounge/function space, multi-purpose rooms, warming kitchen, preschool, exercise rooms, gymnasium, climbing wall, indoor elevated running track, lap pool, lazy river, leisure pool and water slides. The facility also consists of administrative and support spaces. Over 1,000 people attended the recreation center’s opening day, showing the community’s excitement around the new community center.

Construction included major efforts around expansive soil mitigation, design-build mechanical/electrical/plubing efforts for the natatorium and extensive pre-planning from the operations team during the preconstruction phase. With a facility serving over 100 programs, detailed input from trade partners was key to successful scheduling and managing unique logistics on the project.

The recreation center received a LEED Silver Certification.
