Phase one included the 27,000-square-foot renovation of the Labor and Delivery area, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Post-Partum care — all on level four. Phase two included the 17,500-square-foot renovation of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) on level five. These projects were completed in three different building on the healthcare campus, each requiring an individual construction and infection control plan to keep the campus operational.
All patient rooms are centered around a headwall that contains all systems the hospital needs to administer patient care, medical gases, power, monitoring systems and nurse communication systems. For this project, CRMC opted for a pre-manufactured headwall system provided by Amico — the first time that these headwalls had been used at the hospital. The pre-manufactured system provides the hospital facilities with easier access for repairs and upgrades in the future.
